Clyma Weather is a simple weather app that combines data from 3 weather providers

Apple shook the tech world last month when they acquired the popular hyperlocal weather app “Dark Sky” and immediately announced they were going to discontinue the Android app. If you’ve been on the hunt for a good replacement, check out Clyma Weather by XDA Senior Member KDB223. It’s a fresh new weather app available on the Google Play Store today.

Clyma bills itself as a simple and clean app that will deliver “no more inconsistent weather reports.” Rather than checking multiple weather providers to get a reliable forecast in your area, Clyma combines data from three providers so the forecasts are more consistent. Dark Sky is one of those 3 providers (the other two are OpenWeatherMap and Weatherbit) until the API is phased out. Check out the full feature list and screenshots below.

RCS support in Google Messages is rolling out in Italy

Rich Communication Services, or RCS, is a communication protocol that’s often described as the successor to SMS or an alternative to iMessage for Android. With RCS, users can exchange media files in high quality, see read receipts, see typing indicators, start group chats, and more over mobile data and even Wi-Fi. However, universal, app-independent RCS support requires carriers to implement the protocol in their networks, which some have done while others have dragged their feet on. Google has been pushing RCS adoption under its “Chat” banner, using the company’s own servers and “Messages” app to bypass the need for carrier adoption. So far, Google has rolled out RCS in the Google Messages app for users in the U.S., Spain, the U.K., and France, but now they’re expanding support to another European country: Italy.

The Italian rollout was first reported by Italian technology website TuttoAndroid (via AndroidPolice). While WhatsApp is widely used in Europe, RCS will prove to be a viable alternative that’s built into the main messaging app on your phone. This is convenient and easily accessible for the average user, which is especially important during these times when we’re all stuck at home because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is possible that we’ll also RCS roll out to other markets as well in the coming weeks. This is probably just wishful thinking, but we could even see a global release of RCS in the Messages app.

TuttoAndroid indicates that the feature is rolling out independent of carrier support, so be sure to download the Messages app and check to see if the feature has rolled out for you. If the feature is available for you, you should be greeted by a “welcome to Chat” pop-up when you launch the app. Take note that all participants in a conversation have to enable “Chat” in order to use RCS features, otherwise you’ll fall back to SMS.

Quick Cursor enables one-handed control on Android using a mouse pointer

Smartphones keep getting bigger, but the need to use a phone with only one hand never changes. While most of the time you may be able to use both hands, there’s always going to be a situation where your other hand is occupied. Quick Cursor is a handy app that makes it easy to reach the very top of your screen with just one hand.

We previously covered an app called Reachability that added a cursor to the screen for hard-to-reach places. However, that app hasn’t been updated in a long time, and Quick Cursor is the same concept. Basically, whenever you need some extra reach, you can swipe from the side of the display and bring out a cursor. It consists of two parts: the tracker and the cursor. The tracker is what you drag around, in easy one-handed reach, to move the cursor at the top of the display.

In the GIF above, the large circle towards the bottom of the display is where my finger is at. I effortlessly swiped in from the left side of the display, dragged the tracker to reach the link, and then tapped the tracker to select it. All from the comfort of the bottom third of the display.

Quick Cursor has plenty of customization options to get it looking and working exactly how you want. You can choose which edge you want to swipe from to bring out the cursor, adjust the size of the area, customize the look of the cursor and tracker, etc. There are also more features if you purchase the Pro mode. OnePlus Gallery 3.11.2 adds a Google Lens shortcut to analyze images

OnePlus’ OxygenOS software offers a pretty decent set of first-party applications out of the box. While we’re huge fans of Google Photos for its cloud backup and album organization features, the OnePlus Gallery in OxygenOS is more than suitable as an offline gallery app. It provides you with easy access to your locally downloaded media files and allows you to quickly edit photos and videos. Furthermore, OnePlus keeps updating the app with new features. The latest feature in version 3.11.2 is integration with Google Lens, Google’s image recognition tool that analyzes images and looks up relevant context online.

In the Google Photos app, there’s a Google Lens button in the image viewer that you can tap to analyze the image. In version 3.11.2 of the OnePlus Gallery, a similar button is now present when viewing images. Since Google Lens is part of the Google App, tapping this shortcut simply sends the image to the Google Lens activity as part of an intent. Apart from this feature, the latest update doesn’t add any other major features. The full changelog for version 3.11.2 of the app is as follows:

Google Lens is a nifty tool for looking up information online, selecting text in images via OCR, translating text, and more. We’re glad to see a shortcut be added to the OnePlus Gallery app since it was a bit annoying having to select “Lens” in the share sheet or opening the file picker in the Lens activity.

Google Stadia adds support for the OnePlus 8, mobile captures on the Stadia controller, and will get Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla

Google Stadia is quickly growing to be one of the best cloud gaming platforms, and there’s no sign that Google is slowing down anytime soon. Every month, Google makes improvements to the service and announces new games. April has been one of the biggest months for new Stadia features and launches. Just a few days ago, Google held another Stadia Connect where they announced a bunch of new and expanded partnerships with companies like EA and Square Enix. Today, Google published a blog post summarizing all the changes they made to Stadia in April as well as announcing the upcoming release of a new Stadia Pro game and support for more Android smartphones.

During this month, 8 new titles have already become available with 17 more to be launched at some point later this year. The content that became available this month include Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 – Ultra Pack 1, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 – Ultra Pack 2, Get Packed, Monopoly, MotoGP 20, Octopath Traveler, PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS, and Stacks On Stacks (On Stacks). The games coming to Stadia this year are Crayta, Embr, F1 2020, FIFA, Gunsport, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Just Shapes & Beats, KONA, Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris, Madden NFL, Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom, République, Rock of Ages 3, Wave Break, West of Loathing, and Zombie Army 4: Dead War.

In May, Stadia Pro members will be able to claim PUBG, Zombie Army 4: Dead War, The Turing Test, and SteamWorld Heist for free, while existing games that are still available to add to your collection include Destiny 2, GRID, GYLT, Serious Sam Collection, Spitlings, Stacks On Stacks (On Stacks), SteamWorld Dig 2, and SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech.

Joining all of these titles will be Ubisoft’s upcoming Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. This title will be available on Stadia at launch later this year. Ubisoft didn’t give an official release date for Valhalla, but they did say we should expect it to launch during the holidays this year, which is around November to December. The trailer makes the game look really exciting, and it could end up being another great title in the Assassin’s Creed universe.

Along with these new games, Google made a lot of technical improvements to Stadia as well. Here’s a summary:

• Stadia now supports something they call “Click to Play.” This lets you click a link and instantly be brought into a game, which is PUBG in the case of this hyperlink.
• Google also added support for 5.1 surround sound (for Pro members) and an on-screen keyboard to Stadia on the web.
• On the mobile side, Stadia will now give you notifications if the connection quality gets worse and the status icon now changes based on the quality.

A few more important changes for Stadia mobile relate to device support and mobile captures. Earlier this month, Google announced they would add support for streaming games in the Android app on the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro. As the two latest 5G phones to launch internationally, it’s really nice to have support for these devices. I can confirm that the Stadia app does now work on my OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro units, and it’s a very pleasant experience with such large screens.

Google also added support for capturing game clips from mobile. The Stadia Controller has a dedicated button for capturing either a screenshot or 30-second video clip. Previously, this button only worked when you were playing on the Chromecast Ultra, but it now works on phones using the Stadia mobile app.

Stadia has been getting a lot of improvements in a short amount of time and it is quickly becoming a really good cloud gaming service. I’m excited about the future of Stadia and cloud gaming as a whole. As Internet speeds are getting faster and latency is getting lower, gaming will become more and more accessible and convenient. Samsung Galaxy Note 10 receives update with May 2020 security patches

The Galaxy S20 lineup and the Galaxy Fold started receiving the May 2020 security patches in selected regions since yesterday, and it seems that Samsung is pretty much determined to deliver the update to other flagships in their portfolio. As it turns out, the Galaxy Note 10 is the latest recipient of the new security patches, the details of which are yet to be published by Google.

The update is rolling out in the form of software version N97xFXXS4CTD1, and it is currently available in a number of European countries, including France, Poland, Switzerland, and Germany. Once again the Exynos-powered global variant is first in line to receive the new build, albeit the 5G capable Galaxy Note 10 version is excluded from the initial wave of the rollout.

To recall, the previous update for this series was quite massive, as it introduced One UI 2.1 infused with a slew of Galaxy S20 software features to the Galaxy Note 10/Note 10+. The newest update is comparatively lightweight, but there is a hidden catch! Samsung is shipping a new bootloader (v4) through this OTA, which means end-users can’t perform a manual downgrade to earlier builds after updating to the new build.

The OTA is rolling out in batches, so you might have to wait a couple of days before the update notification pops up on your device. Power users, on the other hand, can opt for tools like Frija to directly download the update package from Samsung’s firmware repository for their device variant. The owners of the US Snapdragon models are still out of luck, though, as it is impossible to cross-flash the Exynos firmware on those units.

TVUsage brings Digital Wellbeing and app lock to Android TV

Digital Wellbeing was one of the best new features to come to Android in Android 9 Pie. Not everyone may be using it, but those who do acknowledge the importance of cutting down screen time on your smartphone to spend time doing more productive things. Google’s Digital Wellbeing app helps you limit excessive smartphone usage with features like tracking app usage, setting app timers, enabling a “focus mode”, setting up bedtime schedules, and much more. Google has brought Digital Wellbeing to most Android phones, but there’s no comparable feature on other Android platforms like Android TV. Now, however, there’s a third-party application that helps you manage the screen time on Android TV devices. Called TVUsage, this app by XDA Senior Member balachandarlinks brings screen time management features to Android TV.

The app boasts the following features:

•  Understand daily and weekly usage habits for every app.
• Usage graph for last 3 days.
• Set daily screen time limit and continue to use your favourite apps. We will remind you when its time to disconnect from the TV and connect to the real world.
• Lock any app with pin lock.
• Open any installed app and app settings straight from the app detail screen.
• Exclude an app if you are not interested in tracking the usage for it.

TVUsage has been tested on the NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV and is not guaranteed to work on all Android TV devices. The developer states that Mi Box devices cannot show full-screen overlays for screen time limits since Xiaomi apparently removed the “display over other apps” feature. In addition, some Sony TV devices lack usage access and hence TVUsage won’t be able to track app usage.

Facebook’s photo transfer tool for Google Photos is now available in the US & Canada

Back in the early days of cloud storage, before iCloud existed and Google Photos matured, Facebook was the place to store photos online. Even if you don’t use Facebook as much these days, there’s a good chance you still have some photos and videos on the platform. If you’d like to move that content over to Google Photos, there is now an easy way to do it.

Last December, Facebook launched a photo transfer tool as part of its Data Transfer Project. It was available first in Ireland and later rolled out to countries in Latin America, the Asia Pacific, the EU, UK, Latin America, South East Asia, and Africa. Now, the tool is finally available in the US and Canada.

The tool is surprisingly easy to use. On the Facebook desktop or mobile site, open the main settings. On desktop, click the “Your Facebook Information” tab. On mobile, scroll down to the “Your Facebook Information” section. Select “Transfer a Copy of Your Photos or Videos.” You will be asked to enter your password. Choose “Google Photos” from the dropdown, enter your Google password, grant permission, and you’re done. When the transfer is complete you will receive an email.

The transfer process isn’t quick. The Activity section will show the transfer as “Pending” until it begins, then it will say “In Progress.” At the time of writing this article, I started the process about 3 hours ago and it’s still not complete. The Facebook photos and videos will appear in Google Photos under albums named “Copy of [Facebook album name].” If you want all your media in one place and you’re already a Google user, this is a handy little tool to check out.

Energy Ring battery indicator now supports many new devices from Realme, Xiaomi, Honor, Motorola, and iQOO

From “Edgeless Displays” without physical buttons to wrap-around panels boasting a whopping 180.6% screen-to-body ratio, smartphone manufacturers have tried to push the limits in the war on bezels. Putting aside those futuristic concept phones, notches and pop-up cameras are indeed useful to present a near bezel-less experience. The hole-punch design is another viable alternative to maximize the screen space, but the camera cutouts are not everyone’s piece of cake. Instead of hiding the punch hole(s), a handful of third-party apps can actually utilize the cutout in rather innovative ways. Energy Ring by XDA Recognized Developer jagan2, for example, can turn the area around the camera hole into a battery indicator.

Energy Ring was originally made available for the Samsung Galaxy S10 lineup and later came out for a bunch of other Samsung phones, including the Galaxy S20 series. The OnePlus 8/8 Pro recently became a part of the list of compatible devices as the first non-Samsung entry, and the developer has already expanded the list since then. The latest version of Energy Ring, tagged as ER_GEN_1.9, now supports the newly released Motorola Edge and Edge+, as well as the Redmi Note 9S (which itself is the global version of the Redmi Note 9 Pro). The list doesn’t end there – the Vivo iQOO 3 5G, Mi 10/Mi 10 Pro, Motorola One Vision and One Action, Honor 20 and Honor View 20, Huawei P40 Lite, and the Realme 6 have also made it to the roster.

According to the developer, there is a very minimal effect on CPU and battery while using the app. Users can choose colors based on battery level and define the direction of depletion out of the box, but adding gradients or having multi-colored rings can be achieved only after in-app purchases.

Black Shark 3 and Black Shark 3 Pro to launch in Europe on May 8

Earlier this year in March, Xiaomi launched the Black Shark 3 and 3 Pro gaming phones in China. The devices featured top-of-the-line specifications, including Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 865 chip, LPDDR5 RAM, and UFS 3.0 storage, along with some unique features geared towards mobile gamers. At the time, we had no information regarding a global launch for the devices, but the company has now officially unveiled that the Black Shark 3 series will be going on sale in Europe on May 8th.

The website also details a few “Exploration rewards” that will be available when the open sale goes live. With these rewards, users will be able to get a discount on the purchase of a new device, FunCooler Pro, or another accessory.

While the company hasn’t revealed any pricing details for the devices yet, we expect the Black Shark 3 to be priced around $550 for the base 8GB/128GB variant and the 3 Pro around $700 for the base 8GB + 256GB variant. Along with the two devices, the company might also release the new Gamepad 3.0 controller for the device which features a joystick, 4 mappable buttons, and a function button. We will update this post with the official pricing as soon as the devices go on sale.

Xiaomi launches the Redmi Note 9 series globally alongside the Mi Note 10 Lite

Following the launch of the Redmi Note 9 Pro and Note 9 Pro Max in India early last month, Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 9 Pro globally as the Redmi Note 9S. Adding on to the Redmi Note 9 series, Xiaomi has now launched the vanilla Redmi Note 9 globally at an online-only launch event. The new Redmi Note 9 features a similar design as the Note 9 Pro and Pro Max, but it packs in a smaller 6.53-inch FHD+ IPS display with a single hole-punch cutout for the selfie camera. The device is powered by MediaTek’s Helio G85 SoC, coupled with up to 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

Much like the ‘Pro’ variants, the Redmi Note 9 packs in a quad-camera setup on the back, with a 48MP Samsung GM1 primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP sensor for depth perception. Over on the front, the device has a single 13MP selfie shooter in a hole-punch cutout on the top left corner of the display.

Powering the device is a substantial 5,020mAh battery which supports fast wired charging at 18W via the USB Type-C port. The device also includes a 3.5mm headphone jack, an IR blaster, NFC, dual SIM support, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and a microSD card slot for expansion (up to 128GB).

As part of the Redmi Note 9 series, Xiaomi has also launched the Redmi Note 9 Pro at the event, which is a rebranded version of the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max that was launched in India earlier this year, albeit with a 16MP selfie camera.

The global variant of the Redmi Note 9 Pro features a 6.67-inch FHD+ LCD display with a hole-punch cutout in the center. The device is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 720G chipset, coupled with 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage, with a dedicated microSD card slot for expansion (up to 128GB).

The Redmi Note 9 Pro also features a quad-camera setup with a 64MP primary sensor, an 8MP wide-angle camera with a 119° FoV, a 5MP macro camera, and a 2MP sensor for depth perception. Over on the front, the device features a single 16MP selfie camera housed within the hole punch cutout. Keeping the device powered on is a 5,020mAh battery with support for 33W fast wired charging.

One interesting to note about the green color variant of the Redmi Note 9 Pro is that it offers a dual-tone finish and the camera island doesn’t extend to include the flash. While we aren’t sure why Xiaomi took that route with just one color variant, it does make the device look a bit more appealing than with the other two options.

The Redmi Note 9 will be available in three colors variants — Forest Green, Polar White, and Midnight Gray — and it has been priced at $199 for the 3GB/6GB variant and $249 for the 4GB/128GB variant. The Redmi Note 9 Pro, on the other hand, will be available in three different colors — Interstellar Gray, Tropical Green, and Glacier White — at a starting price of $269 for the 6GB/64GB variant, going up to $299 for the 6GB/128GB variant. Both the devices will be available for purchase starting mid-May globally. It’s worth noting that the pricing may differ based on specific regions and Xiaomi will be revealing the prices for each region at a later date.

Along with the Redmi Note 9 series, Xiaomi has also launched the Mi Note 10 Lite at the launch event. The device, which was recently spotted in an FCC certification listing, packs in a 6.47-inch FHD+ curved AMOLED panel with a waterdrop-style notch. The device is powered by Qualcomm’s mid-range Snapdragon 730G SoC, coupled with up to 6GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

In the camera department, the Mi Note 10 Lite is a major step up from the Redmi Note 9 and it packs in a quad-camera setup consisting of a 64MP Sony IMX 686 primary shooter, an 8MP wide-angle camera, a 2MP macro camera, and a 5MP sensor for depth perception.

Over on the front, the device features a single 16MP selfie shooter. The Mi Note 10 Lite packs in a massive 5,260mAh battery with support for 30W wired fast charging. The device also features an in-display fingerprint scanner, as opposed to the capacitive scanners on the Redmi Note 9 series.

The Mi Note 10 Lite will be offered in 3 color variants — Nebula Purple, Glacier White and Midnight Black — and it will be available for a starting price of €349 for the 6GB/64GB variant. The 6GB/128GBGB variant, on the other hand, has been priced at €399. The device will also be made available for purchase globally starting mid-May. As with the Redmi Note 9 series, the pricing may differ based on the region and Xiaomi will be releasing local pricing at a later date.

Most OEMs have their own customized version of Android, which is itself a compelling reason to maintain separate security bulletins besides Google’s monthly Android security patch updates. However, big-name companies like Samsung usually opt for a mix of monthly, quarterly, and sometimes undefined update cycle, probably because of their vast product portfolio. Interestingly, the newcomer Realme has been able to keep up a decent amount of focus on Android updates despite the fact that their phones run a quite heavy OEM skin (first ColorOS, now Realme UI). Gmail for iOS and Android is showing summary cards for purchases and flights

The Gmail app on iOS and Android is getting smarter. According to a recent report from 9to5Google, the app is starting to show summary cards for purchases and travel bookings at the top of emails, a feature that has been available on the web version for quite a while. Now, when you receive an email with purchase details or travel bookings on Gmail, the app will show a card-based UI underneath the subject line.

The UI on the Gmail app for Android highlights important details mentioned in the body of the email including, but not limited to, take-off and landing times, flight duration, passenger name, seat, and confirmation number in case of a flight booking. On the other hand, emails related to purchases will show a similar card with details like “Ordered from,” “Total cost,” and “Items.” However, the purchase summary feature currently only works with transactions made on the Play Store or Google Play transactions, and not for purchases made on Amazon.

 

At the bottom of the card UI on some cards, Gmail also shows some shortcuts to help users see more details or track a package. The Gmail app on iOS has a slightly different UI, with a cover image and a different card style for the summary. As with the Android app, the full text of the email can be found below the new card UI. The new summary cards make it quite easy to check key details about bookings and transactions at a single glance, without the need to browse through the body of the email.

Development related to the new card-based UI was first spotted back in February this year and it’s finally rolling out to Gmail users on both iOS and Android this week. If you don’t see the Gmail summary cards on your device yet, you can try and update to the latest version of the Gmail app by following the Play Store link below.

Realme UI based on Android 10 rolls out for the Realme 3 and 3i

In its early days, Realme shipped a slightly modified version of ColorOS on its smartphones. Many people had strong opinions about this choice as they felt they deserved something better from a company that claimed to be an entity independent from Oppo. To address this, the company introduced a new skin called Realme UI. At its core, the Realme UI is still based on ColorOS, but it features a revamped user interface inspired by stock Android. However, it’s nowhere near the close-to-stock experience as claimed by the company, but it’s something at least. The company had promised to bring the new Reame UI to several existing Realme phones and even shared a general timeline about the update rollout. Devices like the Realme 3 Pro, Realme XT, Realme X, and Realme 5 Pro received their updates a while back. Now the company has begun rolling out Realme UI based on Android 10 to Realme 3 and Realme 3i.

Google’s new privacy policies are aimed at keeping spam off the Chrome Web Store

In order to ensure that the Chrome Web Store is free from abuse, Google has an abuse system and a review team set in place that constantly monitors new extensions submitted to the platform. However, despite the company’s efforts, a few developers still manage to publish malicious extensions to exploit Google Chrome users. To address this issue, Google has made some policy changes in the past to make extensions more secure. But even then, a few developers have managed to publish malicious and misleading extensions on the platform. For instance, earlier this year Google had to temporarily suspend paid Chrome extensions on the Chrome Web Store due to a significant increase in the number of fraudulent transactions. In a bid to further improve its review process and keep spam off the platform, Google has now announced new privacy policies for the Chrome Web Store.

According to a recent blog post from the company, the following policy changes are intended to keep spam off the Chrome Web Store and ensure that users have a better experience discovering new extensions on the platform:

• Developers or their affiliates should not publish multiple extensions that provide duplicate experiences or functionality on the Chrome Web Store.
• Extensions should not have misleading, improperly formatted, non-descriptive, irrelevant, excessive, or inappropriate metadata, including but not limited to the extension’s description, developer name, title, icon, screenshots, and promotional images. Developers must provide a clear and well-written description. Unattributed or anonymous user testimonials in the app’s description are also not allowed.
• Developers must not attempt to manipulate the placement of any extensions in the Chrome Web Store. This includes, but is not limited to, inflating product ratings, reviews, or install counts by illegitimate means, such as fraudulent or incentivized downloads, reviews and ratings.
• Extensions with a single purpose of installing or launching another app, theme, webpage, or extension are not allowed.
• Extensions that abuse, or are associated with the abuse of, notifications by sending spam, ads, promotions, phishing attempts, or unwanted messages that harm the user’s browsing experience are not allowed. Extensions that send messages on behalf of the user without giving the user the ability to confirm the content and intended recipients are also not allowed.

These new policies are already in effect and developers will have to comply with them by August 27th, 2020. After that date, extensions that violate the new policy may be taken down from the Chrome Web Store and disabled. HTC’s upcoming Desire 20 Pro leaks with a hole-punch display and quad rear cameras

Oh, HTC. The company that was once at the forefront of Android innovation, as well as the company that kickstarted Android phones in general (by launching the very first commercial Android phone 12 years ago), is now, for the most part, forgotten. After enduring a tough time, the company has exited the smartphone marketplace for the most part: we haven’t seen an HTC flagship since the HTC U12+, and right now, the company has focused on launching the occasional mid-range phone (often licensing their name to another company) or launching devices for a very niche market (remember that cryptocurrency phone?). Surprisingly, HTC now has another release in the pipeline: the upcoming HTC Desire 20 Pro.

Our first close look of the device comes from Evan Blass’ Patreon page, where he shared a rough render of the device. Meanwhile, XDA Recognized Contributor LlabTooFeR also shared the purported name of this phone as well as a rough depiction of it, which matches what Blass shared.

The HTC Desire lineup has always been about midrange phones and lower-end ones, and judging by the looks of it, the HTC Desire 20 Pro will be no different. It does integrate some newer smartphone design features: the phone will sport a hole-punch display, with the front-facing camera cornered to the left side of the display. The back also features a corner-aligned camera setup with what looks like a quad rear camera setup. We do have a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, though, which has also lately become a characterizing feature in lower-end devices: most higher-end ones now go with in-display ones.

We have no clue on what this device will pack spec-wise, but since it’s a Desire smartphone and the phone looks fairly mid-range, we’re not really expecting anything amazing or mind-blowing here. There is an alleged GeekBench listing for the device, and it shows not-so-impressive performance, but it does indicate that it runs on an octa-core Snapdragon processor clocked at 1.8 GHz. It is possible that HTC might surprise us, though, but it’s highly unlikely. We also don’t know when HTC is planning to release this device or if it’s going to release it at all.
